It is certainly true today in many countries students taught to compete in classrooms instead of collaboration. In my opinion, the demerits of encourage students to compete against others peers outweigh the merits.

In many countries, comparing with cooperation, most students are educated that they need to compete with others in different fields. I think that this phenomenon brings more benefits than problems.
