In recent years, the number of refugees fleeing conflict, persecution, and poverty has risen dramatically. While some argue that wealthier nations have a moral duty to accept and support more refugees, others contend that such responsibilities should not be imposed. Personally, I strongly agree that affluent countries should take greater responsibility by accommodating more refugees and offering them essential support such as food and housing. First and foremost, wealthier nations often have the resources and infrastructure to manage an increase in refugee populations. Many developed countries enjoy stable economies, robust welfare systems, and well-organized administrative capacities. These advantages enable them to provide the basic necessities of life—shelter, food, and healthcare—without significantly straining national budgets. For example, Germany has successfully integrated over a million Syrian refugees in recent years, showing that large-scale humanitarian assistance is achievable with sufficient planning and investment. Moreover, offering aid to refugees aligns with international human rights obligations and moral responsibility. Refugees are often victims of circumstances beyond their control, such as war or persecution. Turning them away contradicts the principles of humanity and solidarity that many wealthy nations claim to uphold. By sharing the burden more equitably, developed countries can promote global stability and reduce the strain on neighboring developing countries, which often bear the brunt of refugee crises. In conclusion, I firmly believe that wealthy countries should do more to support refugees by accepting greater numbers and ensuring they receive basic assistance. This approach not only reflects moral and humanitarian values but also contributes to a more balanced and compassionate global community.

The given charts depict two different ways of protection for homes which are at risk of being flooded, and both of the houses are raised above ground level. The main difference between the two protection plans is whether there is a stopbank or not In the first diagram, the function of a stopbank as a barrier against flooding from nearby rivers is illustrated. This barrier, depicted as a mound near a drain/river, exceeds the predicted height of a 100-year flood. Additionally, the houses can be built on stilts to prevent flooding from rainwater, and there is a floodgate beneath the stopbank opened to allow the internal winding to drain off into the river. In contrast, the second illustration portrays the dire consequences of a house lacking such protection, directly exposed to overflowing water. In this case, buildings are also raised on stilts. The height of the stilts is 300mm above the 100-year flood level which is called freeboard. This measurement can secure the house against the flood.

The given diagram shows the process of producing clean drinking water by a water filter. It can be seen that there are numerous steps in the process from the initial impure water to the final potable water. In the first step, impure water is put into a metal (iron or steel) container with a wooden top. In the metal container there are three filtering layers, namely sand, charcoal and gravel, with sand at the top and gravel at the bottom. In the bottom part, the water, which is filtered through the three layers, is stored temporarily. An angled metal pipe is there which has the lower opening in the bottom part of the water filter tank. The upper part of the pipe comes out from the upper part and is linked to another closed metal tank. The filtered water from the first tank is brought into the second tank, which is at a lower level than the first tank. There is a tap attached to the bottom part of the tank, through which the clean drinking water can be taken out for drinking.
