Demand for oil and gas is increasing and so finding new sources in remote and untouched areas is a necessity.do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Due to our growing population , our demand for natural
resources
as a source of energy is
also
rapidly increasing. Some suggest that these finite
resources
should be researched in isolated and untouched
areas
. While
this
suggestion does come with many benefits, the drawbacks are much greater. On the one side , many advantages are prevalent.
To begin
, fossil fuel
resources
are non-renewable. If they are continued to be used at the current rate, ultimately, they will deplete and eventually finish.
For example
, gas and oil can be found in countries
such
as Saudi Arabia and Russia.
However
, there is only a certain amount of reserve until it depletes.
Therefore
, more places need to be discovered in remote
areas
like the antarctic to help replenish these fossil fuels and provide for the increasing population demands.
On the other hand
, the cons, unfortunately, outweigh the pros.
Firstly
, using isolated
areas
such
as the Antarctic or Sahara can cause damage to rare species.
For instance
, in these countries , there are rare breeds of animals namely polar bears or the Saharan cheetah that are already endangered species.
Consequently
, digging up these
areas
could lead to loss of habitat endangering species or causing them to become extinct.
Similarly
, natural scenery around these regions is lost, whilst gaining the burden of multiple types of pollution.
Hence
causing
further
damage to the beautiful environment.
Moreover
, due to the increased impact of global warming, solutions to decreased oil and gas reserves should be eco-friendly as well as finding alternative means. To cite an example,
instead
of using non-renewable
resources
, renewable materials should be considered namely wind, solar and geothermal. Wind power is currently being used in the UK as a sustainable form of energy.
Thus
making these options inexhaustible. To conclude ,
although
the demand is increasing for oil and gas , I believe that rather than looking for more
areas
to dig up and intervene with nature, we should consider alternative, more sustainable and infinite
resources
to meet
this
requirement.
