More young people are now interested in becoming professional athletes than ever before. Is this a positive or a negative development?

Today, enthusiasm for becoming a professional sportsperson has increased among many young people.
While
it is a popular trend in some cases, I believe it often brings about undesirable consequences. On the one hand, there can be two primary benefits behind
this
change. One major advantage may have to do with fame.
This
means that professional athletes often make their countries famous in the world arena. Take the Chechen Republic as an example. Most people around the world had no idea about the country before Khabib Nurmagomedov became an internationally recognized face in the world of UFC.
This
example clearly shows how
such
sportspersons can bring international fame and recognition to their motherland. Financial security is another positive side of
this
practice. It is a common fact that most athletes are from disadvantaged families. By becoming a professional sportsperson, they can earn huge amounts of money. With the money they earn, not only can they help their families financially, but they can
also
support the people living below the poverty line.
On the other hand
,
although
this
trend offers some benefits,
such
as fame and fortune, I concede that the threats are more far-reaching. One negative side is injuries. Athletes engaged in UFC, MMA, or boxing are subject to life-threatening injuries.
While
training or during matches, they should be highly cautious.
Otherwise
, there is often a high probability of injury in
such
sports
. In some cases, matches end in death in these
sports
. A
further
disadvantage is that their
sports
career is very short. During their peak years, they may enjoy their career to the fullest.
However
, as soon as their
sports
career ends, they may face difficulties finding work and supporting themselves. Without being able to find a job, they may face financial difficulties and struggle to support themselves. They may even be tempted to turn to a life of crime or drugs. In conclusion, becoming a professional athlete is more popular among the younger generation than ever before.
While
this
trend comes with both positives and negatives, the negative consequences can outweigh the positives.
