Some people think that the best way to improve road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving a car or motorbike. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some argue that the
age
regulation for driving could be the best approach to improve road safety.
However
, I strongly disagree with the idea for two reasons.
Firstly
, a huge number of car accidents has been caused by older
people
and
secondly
, young
people
might have a better understanding of road rules. The primary reason I disagree with
this
viewpoint is elderly
individuals
have caused more accidents than young
individuals
. By way of example,
due to
a lack of skills in comprehending situations around them, the older has led to a variety of serious
incidents
. In fact, the research recently conducted by The Government of Japan discovered that the above-mentioned
age
group actually resulted in more than half of vehicle
incidents
happening in Japan.
However
, the rate of young
people
was relatively low, which accounted for only 15%.
Therefore
, setting the maximum
age
rather than the minimum obviously could be more effective in order to improve safety in traffic.
Further
support for my perspective is that younger
individuals
might have a range of knowledge bases in terms of road regulations encouraging them to avoid accidents.
This
is because they still have vivid memories of their driving lectures and lessons.
According to
an article in The University of Tokyo,
individuals
who had completed their driving lectures in a couple of years had better and deeper comprehension of the rule
while
others did not. They
also
revealed that
this
was one of the main factors preventing
people
from causing
incidents
. As
such
,
it is clear that
younger drive safer than the old. In conclusion, I firmly assert that increasing the minimum legal
age
for driving does not work significantly
due to
the fact that the main driving offenders are elderly
people
, and younger
people
basically grasp any type of driving rules that can prevent them from causing
incidents
.
