shops
fluctuated sharply during the same period. It is clearly seen from the chart that from 2011 to 2012 the

of
shops
which closed increased steadily by about 500. There was,
then
, a peak at around 7,000 in 2013. After that, the
number
of closed stores witnessed a significant decrease of almost 6,500 between 2013 to 2015.
Moreover
, a dip can be seen in the
number
of closures at slightly 500,
while
it recovered until 2016. During the
last
2 years, the
number
of closed
shops
remained approximately unchanged.
According to
the figure, the
number
of opened
shops
fell to just under 4000 from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 up to 2014, it experienced a notable rise of nearly 6,000 and hit a peak before experiencing a decline of around 4,000 in 2015. The
number
of openings plateaued at about 4,000 from 2015 to 2017. It,
next,
went down until 2018.
