In the future, it seems it will be more difficult to live on the earth. Some people think more money should be spent on researching other planets to live, such as Mars. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Currently, we are facing a lot of
problems
in the world, as the
Earth
is becoming more and more populated and polluted. A few examples of the
problems
that I think are important are global warming and the energy
problem
. Because of
this
, some people are beginning to think that we should start researching the possibilities of living on another
planet
within our solar system,
such
as Mars. Even though I agree that we should start doing
this
researches, I think we should
instead
spend more money to solve our
problems
here on
Earth
. Researching possibilities to live on other planets could take decades before bringing anything to fruition, even if it is within the solar system. While I think
problems
on
Earth
, requires our immediate attention whether we like it or not since we have been ignoring it for far too long. Even if we start researching today for the possibilities of living on another
planet
will take a long
time
, before we can actually realise our plan to start a human civilisation there. There are a lot of things that we should take into account before we are able to live on another
planet
. Take
for example
the
problem
of the
planet
's environment. It will take ages before we are able to establish a way to live safely on a
planet
like Mars. Mars's atmosphere is thinner than
Earth
, which means we will always need a suit to maintain
earth
-like pressure
that is
safe for the human body. Mars's magnetic sphere
also
does not protect us from radiation from the Sun as much as it is on
Earth
.
This
example is just one of the many
problems
to colonise Mars. Other
problems
could be, the
problem
of distance, the
problem
of
time
it will take to colonise it, and many others.
Therefore
, these kinds of research will take
time
, which we do not currently have.
Problems
here on
Earth
are no longer ignorable. We have polluted the atmosphere too much, which resulted in greater greenhouse effects and increasing global temperature all over the world. What I think we should do now, is to increase more innovations to help reduce the pollution we release into the atmosphere. Some of these innovations could be, researching better ways to harness alternative clean energies and converting to fully clean energy resources. To summarise, I do not completely disagree with having research on how to live on other planets, but I think it is more important to put our money on researches that will help us fix our
problems
here on
Earth
sooner. Since we do not have much
time
to live if we do not fix these
problems
. And if humans end sooner, it will be meaningless to try to live on another
planet
. I think those researches are good for the long-term of humanity, but we have to solve our
problems
first
.
