The development of tourism has contributed to English becoming the most prominent language in the world. Some people think this will lead to English becoming the only language to be spoken globally. What are the advantages and disadvantages to having one language?

Due to
tourism
people
of several
countries
are stepping out of their home
countries
and going to foreign
countries
to know different human cultures everywhere else which is why there is no denying in the fact that the
world
has become a global village now. Not only
this
English
is the
second
basic
language
that most
people
know these days and
that is
the reason why some
people
believe that
English
will be the only
language
that will be spoken worldwide and
this
would have ample
benefits
with some limitations both of which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.
First
of all, having just
one
language
that is
being spoken in the entire
world
would mean that humans, regardless of which country they come from, will be able to communicate pretty easily, without any hesitation.
For instance
, in the present, there are many
countries
in the
world
where tourists are not able to travel that easily to a foreign land since they are not able to explain themselves to the locals as they do but know the very little native
language
. If each nation of the
world
has all the citizens speaking
one
common
language
-
English
,
this
problem would cease to exist.
Moreover
,
people
travelling to other nations would get a better understanding of the
culture
since
people
residing there will be conversing in
English
. So, the ability to communicate conveniently and better exposure to foreign
culture
are the
benefits
in my opinion. Despite the
benefits
mentioned above, I believe that the
culture
would be lost in the process of acceptance of a foreign
language
-
English
- as
one
's own
language
. Because
language
learning in my view is not confined to just
language
learning, what I mean to say is
people
would start forgetting their own
culture
with their own native tongue.
Language
learning surely is a slow process, but it involves the exchange of
English
culture
too, it's not just about the
language
. Other than
this
,

industry would suffer a blow of reduction in revenue too as there would be no newness remaining in the future if the cultures of every country would have evolved because of the reason discussed previously. Tourists usually travel to have an experience and having just about everything the same in other
countries
would mean no experience at all.
Hence
, I think the loss of
culture
and
tourism
industry will be the drawbacks of having just
one
language
in the whole
world
. In conclusion, growth in
tourism
would indeed make
English
a
language
to be spoken by all human beings in the future which would have many
benefits
and some unavoidable consequences too.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
