Do you agree or disagree with the following statements? Because people are busy doing so many different things, they do very few things well. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, multitasking is a word in trend. The meaning of
this
word is the ability to do much stuff at the same
time
. Many
people
try to be good at multitasking because they want to finish the activities quicker, and want to do different stuff. From my
point
of view,
people
would do things better if they were only doing
one
activity
at a
time
. I feel
this
way for two reasons that I will explain in detail below. The
first
point
I would like to make is that focusing on
one
activity
might help you to do it better because you are giving all your attention and putting all your effort into
one
task.
For instance
, I've always been the kind of person that wants to achieve everything at the same
time
.
Last
year, I was searching for a new job, studying English and working on my thesis. There was a turning
point
when I realized I was not having any progress in these activities because I didn't have enough
time
to give to each of them. So, I decided to prioritize what I wanted to achieve
first
and what was the most relevant
activity
for me. I chose to put
first
my thesis. The result was I obtained my thesis grade quickly and two weeks after that I found a new job. The
second
point
I would like to
point
out is that there's a strong probability of making mistakes when you try to multitask. Activities related to our job are the perfect examples of
this
. I receive around 100 emails per day.
This
makes me feel overwhelmed and increases my desire to finish as soon as possible.
Additionally
, I need to host meetings with customers. While I am in these sessions, I try to replay as many emails as I can. The result is that sometimes I miss out on what the others are saying, the
next
steps arranged, and the worst, I send the wrong emails. In conclusion, I believe that when
people
are doing many things at the same
time
, they might not do all of them good. As I mentioned before,
people
should focus on
one
task in order to give their best to the
activity
and achieve the goals quickly and make fewer mistakes.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
