Nowadays, news companies spend a lot of money covering international news. However, local news is more relevant to people’s lives and should receive more funding. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

As time has passed, it is easily observed that international
news
is more focused on by the public rather than local
news
that seems to directly affect citizens' lives.
Thus
, it is arguable that more money should be invested in the local
news
than it currently is.
However
, I completely disagree with
this
statement.
To begin
with, there are some reasons why
this
phenomenon should be kept up.
First
and foremost, compared to the past, international events are much more concerned with our lives.
Therefore
, we need to receive as precise and fast information as possible.
For example
, many people have been able to simply do stock investment, which is vulnerably influenced by global issues. Not only
this
,

but commodity inflation is afflicted by international
news
. Considering the fact that many people must make a decision according to global events, it is obvious for international
news
to get more important nowadays.
On the other hand
, local
news
is not as vital as it used to be any longer.
Firstly
, social media already plays the role of local
news
instead
. What
this
means is that the information or advertisements that had to be in newspapers or magazines to be noticed can be posted by individuals.
For instance
, as far as Instagram is concerned, it is not only efficient because more people do Instagram than read newspapers, but every person can post anything, no matter what it is
such
as employment or personal vacation period. To conclude, it is an acceptable change that international
news
is becoming more essential while local
news
is consumed not as much as it was.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
