The diagrams below show the changes that have taken place at West park Secondary School since its construction in 1950.
The diagrams present the replacement that has been happening in West
park
Secondary School
in different stages in 1950, 1980 and 2010. In all three images can be seen that the school
did not change its location.
Overall
, during this
area the school
has increased in size and the car park
has been created and enlarged. The combined recreational areas, however
, first extended and then
reduced in size.
In 1950, the school
was built close to the main road and next to a number of houses. A large area behind the school
was turned into a playground
and to the ,left there was farmland.
By 1980, the houses had been demolished in order to make some space for a new car park
and an additional school
building, which become a science block. In addition
to that, the farmland had been replaced with a sports field, while
the main road and playground
had not any changes.
In 2010, the school
building remained unchanged but the car park
was extended to cover the entire sports field. Therefore
, the original playground
has been divided into two so that it provided some space for the sports field and the new playground
