Nowadays, there is a growing trend of private car ownership. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages or environmental problems associated with this?

The number of people owning private cars has been increasing recently. In my opinion, the drawbacks of nonpublic car ownership outweigh the benefits due to the following reasons that would be explained in
this
essay.
To begin
with, the increasing trend of cars owned by families or individuals can cause the air pollution to worsen. Most vehicles are notoriously known for their harmful gas emission which can deplete the ozone layer
that is
protecting people from UV light. The pollution may contain dangerous particles that can harm one’s health. A study by the Stanford University showed that two thirds of the air pollution in the United States

due to private cars’ emission.
In addition
, as private cars are mostly fuelled by oil, the growing number of ownerships can exhaust natural resources; in the long run,
this
may mean that we would have no fuel to run our
airplanes
, buses, or even electricity. Because natural resources are limited and nonrenewable, the increased probability of depletion can be hugely problematic. There are some good outcomes from purchasing cars for their own good. The owners may find their cars to be more comfortable than riding a bicycle because they can provide protection from

weather. To illustrate, drivers can drink coffee while driving in the rain, whereas riding a bicycle may not give the owner the luxury to do so.
Although
driving a private car can prove to be much more comfortable, there are some disadvantages like harmful gas emission and the possibility of exhausted natural resources to be taken into account before owning the car.
Therefore
, the drawbacks ultimately outweigh the advantages.
