The system used for rubbish/garbage collection in your local area is not working properly. This is causing problems for you and your neighbours. Write a letter to the local council. In your letter • describe how the rubbish collection system is not working properly • explain how this is affecting you and your neighbours • suggest what should be done about the problem

Dear Sir or Madam, Good day.
Firstly
I would like to thank you for the service you are providing to the community, and I really appreciate your daily efforts and dedication. I am writing to you concerning the declining performance of the
garbage
collection system in the area that I live in, which is the central district in Cairo.
This
issue has affected me and my neighbours, and I would like to take some time to explain it to you and to suggest a solution. Relevantly, I believe the problem with the collection process is in the automated machine
that is
responsible for lifting the
garbage
, as it has been working efficiently for many years but it started to halt and drop rubbish on the floor during the procedure.
Consequently
,
this
has affected all the residents in my block, as we have to manually pick up what has fallen off from the
garbage
metal box, and place it back inside. As well,
this
issue affects the overall neighbourhood image. I would like to suggest that the council initiate a maintenance procedure for the overall
garbage
system, which could be done on regular basis in order to prevent the issue from occurring again. Thank you a lot in advance, Yours Sincerely,
Dr.

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
