Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is true that living in a foreign country where we have to speak the local language can cause several negative effects
such
as social problems and practical problems. I agree with
this
point of view and will give my reasons as below. For people who cannot speak the local language may have problems with communication.
Furthermore
, if people do not understand local cultures, traditions or laws, may easily result in serious social problems with their inappropriate behaviours and gestures. Perhaps the best example of
this
would be chewing gum in Singapore. Citizens in Singapore were told not to chew gum while they are in public areas. People may easily break local regulations and lead to huge social problems, even worse, being fined or sued by the governments and authorities. In terms of practical problems. For students who are not able to speak the local language in foreign countries. They may have poor academic performance because they have no idea what the tutor was talking about,
also
cannot finish their assignments before deadline. Worse, as they have limited communicate skills, so it is hard for them to make friends in class or on campus.
As a result
, they tend to be isolated, staying away from the crowd, acting solely
instead
of being alone with classmates or flatmates. I agree with the statement that people may get into troubles easily when they have to speak foreign languages.
