"Prison is the only truly effective form of punishment, because it separates criminals form society." To what extent do you support this view? You should give reasons for your answer, and include ideas and examples from your own knowledge and experience

Imprisonment as an ultimate form of punishment for committing a crime has been debated by many social scientists and experts during the
last
decade. Some people believe that incarceration should be the only way to punish criminals since it isolates offenders
from
Suggestion
for
the rest. Personally, I cannot entirely agree with
this
statement, and the reasons for my judgement will be provided below.
First
of all, there are different types of crimes, and,
therefore
, the fate of minor offenders and a murderer or a killer cannot be the same.
Instead
of sending those with a light crime to jail other non-custodial measures
such
as fines and social works could be taken.
Besides
, those who experienced prison sentence come back even more aggressive and violent, with even bigger temptation to commit heavier crimes if sufficient rehabilitation works have not been done.
In addition
, isolation everyone prosecuted would mean the increasing cost of maintaining imprisonment facilities and cost of conducting rehabilitation processes, Even though people might feel safer if all criminals, without exception, are sent to jails, those who committed small-scale crimes could be subject to just electronic tagging and curfews since they are less likely to jeopardize the peace and stability in the society, Should there is a discrimination between light and heavy crime, there will be more justice in people's lives. In conclusion, I am inclined to believe that imprisonment must not be the only way of punishing the criminals. They must be treated according to the consequences of their actions.
