Some people believe that the only purpose of films is to entertain. Others say films should have educational value. Discuss both view and give your opinion.

While some people consider films simply a source of entertainment, others agree that films should be educational. Personally, I believe that films can be both amusing and educational;
however
, it is up to what kind of the film is. On the one hand, there are some reasons why films should merely be intended for recreation purpose.
Firstly
, most moviegoers
are inclined

to seek satisfaction out of
such
elements as a wide range of films, magnificent visual effects or reputable cast members. For
this
reason, genres that are highly entertaining and include action and sci-fi movies tend to be given preference by viewers.
For example
, superhero movies
such
as The Avengers sequels can always be seen among the most favourite ones.
Secondly
, after a stressful work or study period, people partially expect entertaining moments when watching a film in order to recharge themselves. Seeing a movie means people can temporarily escape from daily life, which may help them relieve the stress and be mentally healthier.
On the other hand
, films can have significant effects on the minds of audiences and
therefore
people should be careful about how the content of the films that they watch affect them and their families. People, especially youngsters’ morals and values are shaped by what they watch on TV and in films.
For instance
, some animated movies offer valuable life lessons
such
as Wall-E not only raises our awareness about global environmental problems but
also
hopes for love and a fresh start.
In addition
, human might broaden the knowledge through seeing films, namely science fiction, documentary and epic films. Take “Our planet”
for example
, it is a groundbreaking nature documentary series showcasing the planet's most precious species and fragile habitats, revealing amazing wildlife spectacles on Earth, from tropical jungles to frozen lands.
This
series inspires human-beings understand nature and make changes to protect our planet Earth. In conclusion, while films are made for recreation, I believe that some movies still have many educational aspects.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
