It is a common belief that we are more dependent on others nowadays.
However
Linking Words
, in my opinion, modern life forces us to be more independent than people were in the past. The argue that we are more dependent on each other now could be explained by two main reasons.
Firstly
Linking Words
, life is becoming more complex and difficult, particularly due to the cost of living has increased so dramatically.
For instance
Linking Words
, when young adults buy a house, they often tend to rely on their parents for financial help. Property prices are higher than ever, it would be impossible for many people to pay a deposit without help.
Secondly

, in these days, almost both parents work full-time with a desire to have a better quality of life for their families.
This
Linking Words
means they have less time for child care and must depend on support from grandparents and babysitters.
However
Linking Words
, I would agree with those who believe that people are more independent these days. In most countries, families are becoming more independent and many more teenagers are choosing to live alone, which means that people cannot count on relatives as much as they used to.
In addition

, in the context of developed world, we

have more freedom to travel and live far from our hometowns.

experience makes them more independent as they learn how to live alone. In conclusion, while there are some reasons to believe that people now depend on each other more, my own view is that we are more independent than ever.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
