In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?
Agriculture these days has become advanced enough to meet everyone’s demand due to the development in technology; still, many people around the world remain hungry. In my opinion, the cause of the issue might be related to the fact that many countries have been corrupted by their own governments.
However
, I also
think that there are a few possible solutions for this
problem
. The following paragraphs are my thoughts and consideration on
Suggestion
of
this
topic.
The main reason why people still go hungry might be caused by their own government
. Some countries don’t actually face problems such
as food
not meeting the demand or the agriculture are not yet developed, but the issue that they are facing could be poverty as well as the way that the government
manages and distributes national resources. These types of problems mostly
occur within the less economically developed countries. Accept comma addition
problems, mostly
For instance
, the infamous case of Blood Diamonds which happened in Africa: people are forced to mine diamonds, but they get little or nothing in return (highly unfair wages). Diamonds are obviously one of the valuable and lucrative resources that could be conveniently exchanged for money
. Despite that, people in the country are extremely poor (as well as the country generally except
for the Accept comma addition
generally, except
government
) because they do not profit from the activity. Not only does this
happen in Africa, people who live in countries like the Philippines or India also
struggle with and suffer from hunger issues.
However
, there are still measures and policies that could be imposed to alleviate the problem
. Obviously, governments need to step in and take earnest participation in tackling the problem
which will eventually solve most of the issues. However
, that is
, pragmatically, impossible and every country will have their own specific solution; still, I am convinced the main solutions are as follows. Firstly
, providing an adequate amount of money
for the locals can be done by using the financial help from organisations that can ensure the donated money
will be equally and justly allocated to the local people. If this
is done properly and effectively, we can rest assured that these people will have at least some money
to buy food
and water. Secondly
, food
donation is also
a great idea besides
the financial help. This
, again, will require support from an organisation that can share the donated food
to the locals. In some areas, money
might not be the most serious issue when there is an inadequate amount of food
in the first
place.
Lastly
, in my opinion the reason why people still go hungry even if agriculture has already been advanced enough to provide enough food
for everyone is mainly because of the government
. We can see that the developed countries don’t have this
type of problem
; even if they do, it is not as serious as the LEDCs. This
is because they have a government
that can actually efficiently manage their people both economically and financially unlike some of the governments in the LEDCs that are notoriously corrupt. Therefore
, the solutions are as mentioned above: food
and money
. Still, donation seems to be the main one that actually works and is efficient.Submitted by Saralan Lertmana on
