Some people think that strict punishments for driving offences are the key to reducing traffic accidents. Others believe that other measures would be effective in improving road safety. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In recent times, the
number
of
road
accidents is getting increased day by day and in spite of all efforts from government and local authorities, it is not slowing down at all. Some would argue that, drastic steps need to be taken against violators to reduce accidents, but others would suggest that there are
also
different ways
also
which are more important.
This
essay will discuss both views,
although
, I strongly opine with the idea of proponents.
To begin
with, often it is observed that, fear of being punished plays an important role to reduce the
number
of mis happenings on roads as it includes high amount penalty and sometimes jail sentencing with the size of the vehicle. To elaborate, if someone violates
traffic
rules and
road
safety guidelines, they need to pay a huge amount of fine within a specific period of time and failed to do so, a jail sentence with no bail shall be imposed. On the top of that, for the cases of serious violations, the vehicles need to be seized right away without caution and that can reduce the cases of
road
accidents.
For example
,
last
year in Delhi, with the revamped motor vehicles act, the
number
of
road
incidents is decreased by 35% which is very noticeable.
On the other hand
, some say that punishment is not enough because it is needed to make people educated more and more about
traffic
rules and government should
also
improve the current roadway conditions to improve
traffic
flow. If people really understand the implications of violations,
then
they should try to drive their vehicles within the speed limit and with more caution.
Furthermore
, in many cases it is observed that, very bad
road
conditions are often primary factors of our discussed topic and our local authorities should take care of that and improve. To conclude, there may be some important precautions, but most of the times, instilling fear of being punished is important to reduce
number
Suggestion
the number
of deaths and injuries in
road
. I would suggest that, transportation department should be more enthusiastic and set up more strict
traffic
speed checking system with the implementation of modern day technologies along with more stricter transportation act.
