A museum near your home is looking for people to do part-time voluntary/ unpaid work. You would like to do some voluntary/unpaid work at the museum. Write a letter to the museum director to apply for the voluntary/unpaid work. In your letter: * explain why you want to do voluntary/unpaid work at the museum * describe some skills and qualities you have that would be useful * give details of when you would be available for work

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to apply for the part-time voluntary position in your museum. I am sincerely keen to do
this
because I am a history buff and looking for interesting ways to keep myself busy during my retirement year.
Besides
, I believe
this
would give me an opportunity to have more involvement in the community. I believe that I have a variety of skills that will be of value to the museum.
First
of all, I used to work as a marketing manager and I excel at public speaking, which would be useful for seminars or tour groups.
In addition
, I am
also
computer savvy and capable to efficiently complete technical tasks. Any time during the weekdays works for me and I am available any type of hours in the morning or afternoon as I am an early bird.
However
, I am not able to work on weekends because I need to look after my grandchildren with my husband. I would appreciate meeting with you in person to
further
introduce myself, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Yours faithfully, Jane Jones

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
