There has been a constant debate over the child labour trend. A section of people considers children involved in any kind of paid activity is not right, whereas the other section justifies the trend with an argument that it provides the required
work
experience. In my opinion, it is unethical and unacceptable seeing children engaging in paid jobs. In
this
essay, I will examine both expressions with relevant examples.
To begin
with, child labour is a tragedy that needs to be stopped. In many developing and underdeveloped countries parents push their kids to
work
when they are pretty young.
This
sets an extremely bad example in society. Education is a fundamental right of every child, denying basic right to learn cannot be accepted by the civilized society.
Although
children can support their family by earning a small amount, it is snatching the bright future they have when they are educated.
For instance
, a bright teenager when pushed to some daily wage task, after few days or months, the one will lose the interest to study anymore and he/she remain doing similar kind of job for the entire life.
Therefore
, children should not be encouraged working at a very young age
instead
should be taught the importance of education and studies.
On the other hand
, some families cannot afford school fee and children will have to
work
to support the family financially. By doing
this
, they learn the art at a very young age and will gain the necessary training by the time they become adult and independent.
This
provides much-needed confidence to start a new venture of their own. To illustrate, due to certain circumstances, a boy/girl is encouraged to
work
from childhood in a small grocery store. After working in the shop for a certain period, he can quit the job and start a new venture of a small shop on his own with all the experience gained,
as a result
, one can earn more and look after the family much better than earlier.
In conclusion, I disagree with the notion of children being encouraged to engage in paid jobs. Education must replace all kinds of labour activities in childhood.
Although
they gain significant experience by working, educating them will benefit more as it will shape their future.
Therefore
, children involving in paid activities must be eliminated from
