Happiness is considered to be very important in life, yet it is difficult to define. Why is happiness difficult to define? What factors are important for achieving happiness?

It is true that
happiness
is very important in life.
However
, there is no clear definition of
happiness
, because there are multiple factors that we need to take into consideration when we talk about
happiness
.
Happiness
is difficult to define

because
people
feel happy in different situations, and the definition of
happiness
varies from
person
to
person
. Some
people
might think being rich and having higher social status could make them happy, while others believe that wealth and social status is not essentially associated with
happiness
, and being together with friends and families means
happiness
. For an individual, the definition of
happiness
may change as he or she grows older as well. When I was young, I thought that having a stable job with high compensation would make me happy. Now I am working as an engineer for a big tech company, earning a good salary, yet I feel I am not happy. To become an engineer, I gave up my dream of becoming a musician. I feel I would be happier if I had chosen what I love to do.
Although
happiness
is hard to define, there are several factors that are to be considered to achieve
happiness
.
First
of all, I believe having a stable income is important. To be happy, it might not be necessary to be rich or wealthy, but a
person
would definitely be unhappy if he or she is suffering from poverty and could not afford his housing and food.
Secondly
, moral and emotional support
also
contribute to the feeling of
happiness
. Most
people
would not be happy when they feel lonely.
Lastly
yet the most importantly, doing what you love to do.
People
might have different preferences of what they would like to do in life, but
people
would be happy when they are doing what they like to do. In conclusion, each
person
has his or her own feeling towards
happiness
, and
this
is why
happiness
is hard to define, but there are certain factors that most
people
need to think about in order to be happy.
