Some people think that offenders should be put in prison. Others, however, believe that providing offenders with education and training is more effective than putting them in prison. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Which way is more efficient to punish offenders is recently widely discussed and
people
hold different ideas about hits topic.
People
commonly believe that putting
criminals
in
prison
is an effective way to reduce crime. It tells
people
that they should be responsible for their behaviour. That means whenever someone wants to commit a crime, they need to take into account there's a risk that they lose their freedom and may be separated from their family members or loved ones.
Furthermore
, for those
criminals
who caused severe damage to others' possession and lives, it is important not only to put them in
prison
but
also
to make sure the duration of the penalty is long enough.
This
a sign that the government take it seriously to regulate
such
criminal activities and
therefore
may deter them from re-offending.
For example
, if a rapist is given a
prison
sentence of 10 years, he/she will realize how determined the government is to fight against
such
mistakes,
thus
they may not re-offend after they get released from
prison
.
On the other hand
, some say that education and training work better in reducing crime than simply putting lawbreakers into
prison
.
This
is especially true for those young
criminals
. Young
people
are less developed in terms of mentality and are
hence
more susceptible to messages promoted in those violent and aggressive movies. It is better to help them realize the mistakes they make and give them an opportunity to reform themselves. Education and training will achieve
this
goal.
Also
, it will provide them with necessary skills they may find useful when they enter the job market and can help them to adapt better to society. In my opinion,
although
putting offenders, especially those who commit severe crimes into
prison
is an efficient way to regulate
people
's behaviour, we
also
need to consider the age of the
criminals
before we take any actions. We can definitely have better choices if the offender is a youngster.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
