Some people think that hosting an international sports event is good for the country, while some people think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion

Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about the benefit of international
sports
events
. While some people suppose that
such
events
are disadvantageous for the
host
country, I would argue that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. On the one hand, the option to
host
an international
sports
event has its drawback to some extent. I suppose the argument that too much value is placed on sport. If the government of the
host
country provides funding for these
events
, it must curb public spending on hospitals, schools and a welfare state to help the poor, especially nowadays. In times of pandemics, all countries should give priority to medicine.
On the other hand
, I believe that hosting an international
sports
event offers some undeniable benefits.
Firstly
, health is promoted through a wide public interest in these
events
. These
events
receive global news coverage
,

so that they encourage people to take up sport and exercise and
also
foster a competitive spirit. In terms of the economy, these
events
are the chance for showcasing the
host
country to the whole world. Many countries have taken advantage of the opportunity to attract more tourists.
For example
, since the beautiful Vietnamese dishes made headlines during SeaGame 2003, Vietnam has been a must-visit destination for global food lovers. In conclusion,
although
sports
events
come at the expense of a few immediate problems, it seems to me that the benefits of health promotion and tourism attraction are of greater significance in the long term.
