Many people think it is very important to protect the environment but they make no effort to do it themselves. Why do you think this is the case? What actions should individuals take to protect the environment?

All over the world, it is evident that our
planet
is under threat. Many believe that it is important to look after our
planet
, but they make no effort to do get involved themselves. In
this
essay, I will discuss the possible causes and propose ways how we can protect the
environment
. The main reason why people take no action is that many are largely cut off from the
environment
. Let's take half of the world's population as ,an example, it is evident that most individuals live in urban areas. They reside in high rise apartments with an air conditioning system, take public or private transportation to work, rarely leave the city and most of them work in offices that are cooled.
Therefore
they don't feel the effect of pollution or global warming so much. They are mainly cut off from these environmental side effects and could not care less about protecting them. There are numerous ways how individuals could get involved in looking after the
environment
. The
first
one I would suggest is to get the government involvement as they could use social media to inform the public how to recycle or encourage them to rather walk or cycle to work if they can. Another, way how people can get actively involved is to look for local active organisation groups in their neighbourhood who,
for example
, produce fresh produce on their rooftops or gardens and support them. In almost every city there are usually activist groups who want to protect the
planet
by wanting to implement greener transport systems or they have recycling projects, and it is important that individuals get involved in
this
kind of group. In conclusion, we only have one
planet
and it is important to preserve it for the
next
generation. It is
therefore
vital that everyone acts their part and works together to protect the
environment
.
