New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

In the Information Age era,
technologies
have all changed the way people lived their life. Especially youths, being exposed to all these gadgets so early can really mould their childhood and how they spend their pastime. In spite of many arguments saying it is harmful to
children
, I firmly believe the advantages outweigh its disadvantages. Youth these days rarely spends
time
outside. Back in the day,
children
really enjoyed spending their free
time
outdoors and doing physical activities together. In contradiction,
this
generation prefers staying in and surfing the
web
and communicating with their friends online rather than face-to-face. Results in adolescence nowadays are not as fit and strong or maybe more timid since they are not in contact with the outside world enough.
For instance
, researchers found that kids are now much more fragile and small compared to
children
16 years ago due to the lack of exercise. Even traditional games like tug of war, bag jumping are now forgotten since the rise of technology. When the deadly COVID-19 took place, the world was turned upside down.
This
has given an even bigger rise to
technologies
as electronics and online apps are in high demand for work and school. Teenagers have been exposed to
technologies
long before and are much more technologically advanced since they spend a large portion of their
time
on the
web
, it is very beneficial and convenient for them.
For example
, meetings and classes held on Zoom are easily accessed by kids and they can operate the app to the fullest. Not to mention the number of useful platforms on the
internet
. These sites are both informative and entertaining, with eye-catching animations and content that keeps
children
interested and educated without wearing them out. Apps like Duolingo, Crosswords or even Tiktok can both deliver knowledge and pleasure. Not to mention kids can broaden their horizons through the
Internet
. In
this
day and age,
children
have a surprising amount of knowledge compared to the old days. Cyberspace contains trillions of information, with new datasets updating every day,
therefore
people, especially
children
who spend a significant amount of their free
time
on the
Web
can
further
their knowledge even more. The
Internet
can increase all skills, varies from creativity to critical thinking, the sky’s the limit on the
Web
.
Furthermore
,
children
can even self-study and learn new hobbies at home online through apps like Youtube with real-life teachers, challenges that guide them through the journey. In conclusion, I strongly believe that the benefits are much more significant than
such
disadvantages, especially in
this
century where
technologies
are more advanced than ever. If used correctly, the benefits that the
Internet
brings is limitless for the youths.
