Many people believe that television programs are of no value for children. Do you agree? Why or why not? Provide reasons and examples to support your response.

It has been a considerable debate whether televisual media provides bad influences and disadvantages to
children
or not. Some party argues
children
learn nothing but negative things from
television
, but others opine that not all
television
channels
not good. I personally accord with the latter argument that there are positive and negative contents provided by
television
. As we might have known that several
television
programs
display violent acts by the actors, pornography content as well as disrespectful languages. Whereas, the young adolescent who watches those negative contents consistently, may become the more aggressive and disrespectful person. To exemplify, a kid hit his colleagues aggressively during the school break time because inspired by a character featured in the
television
program.
Thus
, it can be said that
television
programs
may cause
children
to grow in a negative manner. On the flip side,
television
programs
provide several advantages to the development of
children
. Several
television
channels
provide
children
with general knowledge, science and teach them good character.
For example
, when I was a kid I consistently watched mandarin
channels
and dramas. As the result, today I can speak mandarin fluently even though I did not take any course or learn it in school.
In addition
, there are several
television
programs
that are regarded as educational
programs
,
such
as national geographic and animal planet
channels
.
Therefore
, it is proven that
television
programs
are
also
beneficial to
children
. Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that
television
programs
comprising of negative and positive content for
children
.
However
, parents are still responsible to supervise and filter the
television
programs
that should and should not be watched by
children
.
