You live in a room in college which you share with another student. There are many problems with this arrangement and you find it difficult to work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter: • describe the situation • explain the problems and why is it difficult to work • say how you would like the situation resolved.

Dear Warden, I am writing
this
letter to complain about my roommate. His behaviour is an unbearable and polar opposite to mine. I have been living in
room
number 32, building A-i for the
last
three months with
this
boy. He use to party daily with his friends in our
room
to midnight and they play music too.
Although
, my
last
roommate was a quiet person and humble. But, he is my senior and do not want to follow the basic ethics to share a
room
with me. As my semester final is approaching and I have to study in a quiet place. Kindly advise my roommate to minimise these disturbances.
Otherwise
, I request you to shift me to another
room
, preferably with one of my classmates because it is easy for me to study together with him. I hope, you will understand the situation and solve it on an urgent basis. Yours faithfully, Harpreet Sangha

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
