Internet development has a great impact on people's life. Some people say social media do more harm to the youth. Other people say they do the great to youth. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Cutting-edge technology has changed
people
's
life
enormously. Social
media
, specifically, is now invading our daily routine, especially bringing a huge impact on teenagers' daily
life
. Some
people
firmly believe that
this
kind of communicating platform provokes various negative impacts on young
people
's lives, whereas others insist that
this
is an applausive tool for
teens
. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss both opinions, and prove why I opt for the latter side as my view. On one hand, for those who strongly hold the opinion that any sort of social
media
will definitely bring negative impacts on teenagers'
life
, they must be thinking based on the following two reasons:
Firstly
,
this
group of
people
might think that excessive use of social
media
would distract young
people
's attention on their real-
life
issues,
such
as their study, their real friendship, and even their family
life
in reality.
In other words
, they may think that
teens
who spend so much time chatting with net friends might forget how to make real friends in
life
, and even worse, they may forget how to focus on their study business. Another reason for
this
group holding the view that social
media
only bring defects into
teens
'
life
might be to do with health problems. Parents,
for example
, worry so much about their children's eye-sight issues. They advocate that those social apps on their kids' smartphones are the blames, because these apps drag their kids too much. In a word, the negative influence outweighs the positive one for
this
group of
people
in terms of social
media
usage.
On the other hand
, another crowd of
people
, as well as I, are thinking more positively towards social platforms, and they believe that
such
kind of high-tech is a blessing for adolescents rather than a curse. The time-consuming problem is just a matter of self-disciplining cultivation. For us, it is not wise to give up a high effective communicational method simply because you cannot control your own time spent on the garget.
Besides
, the eye-sight issue is
also
just an illusion. There are tons of assisting devices nowadays specially designed for protecting your eyes from being hurt from the screen, and many terminal devices, like cellphones or iPad, are now
also
providing soft-light screen protecting systems.
Furthermore
, learning how to use social
media
healthily can not only release youngsters' huge study pressure but
also
can assist them to acquire necessary skills of using the internet, which could be very beneficial for their
further
academic career.
Therefore
, taking advantage of the internet communicational platform can be a blessing for young
people
. In conclusion,
although
people
might worry about the defects that internet communication tools might bring to
teens
, like many of the others, I
also
strongly advocate its advantages over its disadvantages. As long as we can balance the good with the bad, social
media
can become an effective tool for youth.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
