Some people think that the best way to ensure road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving cars or riding motorbikes. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the
last
few decades, there has been a surge in
road
traffic accidents and the governments are looking for new ways to help promote
road
safety
. Some argue that increasing the minimum legal
age
to apply for a driving license for cars and motorbikes can help to rein the number of
road
accidents and improve
road
safety
. In
this
essay, I will explain why I tend to agree with
this
statement and at the same time, what other ways I consider the best for the same purpose. Undoubtedly, an increase in the minimum legal
age
for driving cars or riding motorbikes can have some positive impacts on the public's
safety
on roads.
First
of all, in some countries,
for instance
, in the UK, teenagers can start driving as soon as they turn seventeen, which is not a safe
age
to take
such
a huge responsibility. When they are in their late teens, the majority of these young adults are not that responsible and mature enough to go on the roads on their own.
Moreover
, because they tend to be more carefree so their careless behaviour can be a risk to
safety
on
road
for themselves and others.
In addition
to that, if these young adults will let to drive at a later
age
, they will be able to afford their own vehicle, which they will tend to drive more responsibly and carefully as compared to the one purchased by their parents for them. As well as increasing the minimum
age
to drive some other steps should be taken in order to enhance
road
safety
. By introducing some
road
safety
courses for new drivers after passing the driving test and making them mandatory to take can help them to get to know the driving skills better and will
also
aid them to acknowledge the consequences of dangerous and risky driving.
This
way they can learn a lot more about being safe on the roads which can be useful for them as well as for others. In conclusion, to ensure
road
safety
, I tend to agree that an increase in the minimum legal
age
for driving is essential and
additionally
, governments ought to introduce some other courses for new drivers.
