These days, in many countries fewer and fewer people want to become teachers, particularly in secondary schools. What are the reasons for this, and how could the problem be solved?

Teaching is a noble profession and
thus
, should be desirable,
however
,
this
is not the case as very few
people
nowadays want to become
teachers
. In
this
essay, I will be discussing some reasons for
this
trend
in addition
to offering some possible solutions. On the
one
hand, the predominant reason why individuals are no longer interested in the teaching profession is because of how much they earn.
Teachers
are
one
of the lowest earners in society today with a salary of about 20 pounds an hour for beginners making it difficult if not impossible to meet
one
's daily needs on
such
a low income. Most young
people
want a better quality of life which requires higher income,
hence
,the decline in the number of
teachers
.
Additionally
, teaching in secondary schools is a career that requires some qualities that are scarce nowadays,
for instance
, passion and patience, due to the fact that
teachers
deal with different students from varying backgrounds on a daily basis,
therefore
, without being passionate about the job frustration and anger can set in.
One
way of tackling
this
issue is by increasing the salaries of tutors. If
teachers
are able to live comfortable lives ,
for example
, affording quality accommodation and good cars that would impress youngsters,
consequently
, igniting the desire to choose that career path. Another way to tackle the reduction in the number of
teachers
is by providing scholarship programmes for those who are passionate about tutoring. University education is really expensive, costing several thousands of pounds per semester and totally unaffordable for 65 per cent of the population. Granting scholarships or subsidising tuition fees for teaching courses could encourage
people
further
to join the course. In conclusion ,there has been a fall in the number of
people
who want to teach particularly in secondary schools.
This
may be due to the low-income
teachers
earn or lack of patience and passion for the job which are the principal required qualities. Solutions
such
as increasing salaries and offering scholarships should be considered .
