With the rapid advancement of communication technology: smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices, some people believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a tremendously controversial notion heating up a debate over the upsides of the dramatic development of communication technology that cannot overshadow its downsides. I consider myself an advocate of
this
idea. Without a shadow of a doubt, the growth of advanced technologies causes some drawbacks. Excessive use of modern technologies
such
as televisions, computers, and mobile phones may significantly limit children's participation in outdoor activities, which leads to numerous detrimental effects. Students,
for instance
, have a tendency to spend their break time playing various online games on cell phones rather than participating in sports with others.
This
issue,
as a result
, not only brings a wealth of adversities to their physical health but
also
restrains their ability to interact with others. While the pros of communication technology advancement are widely acknowledged, it would be unfair if its cons are ignored. It is undeniable that high-tech equipment acts as AN effective tool supporting pupils in their learning journey.
For example
, during the quarantine of the COVID-19 pandemic, modern devices
such
as computers or mobile phones put a premium on students’ schooling since they have to study online
instead
of attending school.
Hence
,rapid technological advancement brings great positive influences on students’ education. To sum up, while some people suppose that
this
issue is both beneficial and detrimental, I believe it has more demerits.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
