It is expected that there will be a higher proportion of older people than that of young people in many countries in the future. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
It is anticipated that many nations will have more elderly citizens than youths in the coming days. Personally, I believe
this
will not benefit the countries due to the resulting reduced work output. Therefore
in this
essay, I will tackle this
issue and offer a conclusion.
First
and foremost, having a majority of people
being the older ones can be a great development. This
is so because these people
are peaceful hence
unlikely to engage in unlawful conduct. To put this
in perspective, because of the wisdom they have acquired during their lifetime, the aged refrain from criminal acts towards anyone thus
resulting in a more peaceful environment for any nation.
For example
, in a survey conducted to determine the involvement of older people
in theft, it was discovered that, unlike the youthful violent generation, these people
are unable to engage in such
forms of criminal acts but rather offer more peace. Hence
, having a prospect of older people
dominating the future will mean fewer disturbances in human society. Nonetheless
, this
influx of old people
will only lead to the poor economic status of a country.
On the other hand
, if the number of the old people
surpasses that of the younger generation the productivity of a country reduces since these people
can not perform manual tasks as much as the younger ones. In other words
, even though the future will have more peace as a result
of a greater number of aged people
, the risk of poor work output will be greater. Take, for instance
, how the mining industry which requires an energetic person to handle a given duty will be severely impacted when only people
with meagre levels of energy take control. Not only will productivity be negatively affected but the economy of a nation will eventually be compromised too.
By way of conclusion, I reaffirm my stance that if the proportion of aged individuals outnumbers the young ones, it will culminate into underdevelopment and less productivity of a nation. Moreover
, the youths are needed to oversee the frail older people
going forward.Submitted by rawlingskatongo89 on
