A friend of yours is thinking about applying for the same course that you did at university. He/she has asked for your advice about studying the subject. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter • Give details of the course you took at the university • Explain why you recommend the university • Give some advice about how to apply

Dear James, I am writing
this
letter to let you know my thoughts about the engineering courses at Punjab Technical University. In my ,opinion Computer Science engineering is the best course at the university. It's a great decision to pursue
this
course at that academy. I took the admission for B. Tech and Masters combines plan, but opted out from masters in the
third
year of engineering.
Although
they charged me very high there are scholarship programs to provide financial aid. It will take four years to complete the course with around 60 subjects in the 8-semester study. I'm recommending
this
university to you because their faculty is very bright and the interpersonal skills they teach there you won't get anywhere else. It has a huge campus with world-class facilities. You can apply for the program by visiting mushroom centres scattered all over India. Don't miss the internal selection examination conducted by the educational institution in the coming month. It will help you a lot in gaining a scholarship in the academy. Hoping the best for you in your career. Do let me know if any other detail requires or if any assistance is required to establish there. Lots of love to you and your family. Best wishes, Manish

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
