Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, environmental
problems
are a big question for either scientists or ordinary
people
. Some
people
say that the
extinction
of
plants
and
animals
is the biggest threat that humans face today. Others say that there are even bigger
problems
that
people
need to solve. In my opinion, I agree with the latter view.
Climate
change
causes by human beings is an even more concerning
problem
. Due to the pollution and the impact of the house gas effect, the temperature of the Earth is more and more increasing.
This
is a reason why the ice melts as well as the sea level increases.
Consequently
, that leads to droughts and flooding, which affect food production in many areas. Another issue of
climate
change
is the health
problems
of both humans and
animals
.
For example
, many forms of birds die because they cannot adapt to a polluted or high-temperature environment.
People
who live in
this
environment
also
have to confront plenty of health
problems
such
as asthma and cancer. Obviously,
climate
change
can lead to many more dangerous issues than the
loss
of wildlife. Some
people
say that the
loss
of
animals
and
plants
is the most crucial
problem
nowadays.
This
will break the balance of the ecosystem and causes many
problems
in our lives.
For example
,
over exploitation

overexploitation

can lead to the
extinction
of many race
plants
.
As a result
, the medicinal resources decrease or even disappear from
this
planet. The
loss
of a particular animal or plant is
also
a reason for the
loss
of others because they may be the source of food for other
animals
.
Consequently
,
this
problem
is
also
a prominent
problem
that humans should find solutions to.
However
,
this
argument is not persuasive because the
extinction
of some species has little danger to
people
’s lives.
This
problem
is just a part of the big environmental issues, and
people
can absolutely control
this
.
For example
, the government makes efforts to protect endangered species
such
as creating wildlife sanctuaries or enacting strict laws to prevent
people
from hunting rare
animals
and
plants
. These efforts can pre-empt the decrease of
animals
and
plants
in the future. In conclusion, there are more
problems
people
need to focus on rather than the
loss
of some species of
animals
and
plants
. While the
extinction
of
animals
and
plants
can lead to
loss
of biodiversity,
climate
change
can threaten the very existence of life on the planet. In the future, if
people
have no ways to overcome
climate
change
,
people
might face the danger of natural hazards.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
