You have discovered a lot of rubbish in a lake near where you live. In the past, the lake had always been clean. Write a letter to the local council. In the letter: • describe the type of rubbish that you saw in the lake • explain where you think the waste has come from • suggest what the council should do about the problem

Dear Sir, I am writing
this
letter to draw your attention to a rising level of pollution in a
lake
, near which I reside.
Last
Sunday, when I was going for a walk, I noticed that several plastics bottles, bags as well as some residential
waste
were floating on the water's surface.
Moreover
, the water in the
lake
was totally polluted that making the condition even worse.
Last
month, the garbage collection system moved out to a new city.
Therefore
, people of my locale threw all
waste
from their residential area into
this
lake
as a new garbage collection system is quite far away from my locality.
Besides

could not take any action regarding trash collection.
Thus
, they had to throw
this
waste
in
this
lake
. I would recommend making some arrangements for collecting
waste
from door to door so that people stop throwing trash into a
lake
. I hope you would take
this
matter seriously and provide an efficient way to
waste
management. Please give the matter your immediate attention. Yours sincerely, Rupinder Kaur

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
