Some say that music, art and drama are as important as other school subjects, especially at the primary level. Do you agree or disagree?
The importance of classes like music, art and
drama
has been increasing with some agreeing they are of equal value as traditional classes and should be integrated into the class
schedule as early as first
grade. This
essay agrees with that idea as it will increase the interest
in said class
as a profession and hone non-analytical skills
valuable in life.
Introducing young children to these subjects may increase their interest
to pursue them as professionals. In other words
, the education system is in charge of preparing the youth for adulthood, which not only means passing finals and getting into Ivey league universities in order to get a classic occupation but also
to peak their interest
in the less pursued jobs like musicians, actors and athletes. For example
, a study conducted in the field of athletics has indicated that most athletes' passion for the sport starts in a class
in school
. Primary school
are a prime time to start this
process as the pressure of school
is still low.
Furthermore
, these subjects are a place to hone capabilities less used in other classes. That is
to say, in other ,subjects the skills
in use are the analytical ones while, in sports class
children may work on their teamwork and leadership skills
, in music creativity is the skill being used, and in drama
public speaking plays a part. All of the said skills
are highly important and applicable later in life and in all fields not only were acquired. For example
, studies concluded that children that participated in drama
class
are better at public speaking leading to success in political life.
In conclusion, I believe drama
, music and sport are crucial because of the increased interest
in the profession it may create and the work on non-analytical skills
it provides and thus
should be part of a primary school
's curriculum.Submitted by orrgov1 on
