Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do not need. Others say that advertisement tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Advertising makes
people
impulse buy products that are unnecessary. At times
people
are attracted by the person who is or was used in the advert. Many companies opt to use famous or influential
people
for their advertisements. Advertisement let us be aware of recently introduced things. I agree that advertising urge
people
to shop or do want is not even necessary. At times it's because they fell in love with the popular person who had featured in the advert.
For example
here in ,Zimbabwe many companies are using Tete Tilder to advertise their products or what they do. Because of her ,popularity many
people
end up buying unnecessarily. I see
people
buying building materials or solar equipment they don't want but just because it was Tete Tilder who advertises they had
this
urge to buy.
Then
there is the MacDonald advert where they advertise a bigger, better and more appetizing burger and mouthwatering fries. On seeing them on TV or newspaper one will be tempted to buy them only to be disappointed to see a small burger and a few fries. Advertising is just a way of attracting customers. Customers should
first
see the product and have used it before buying.
