STUDENTS SHOULD BE TAUGHT ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE SO THAT THEY CAN PASS EXAMS, AND SKILLS SUCH AS COOKING OR DRESSING SHOULD NOT BE TAUGHT. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE/DISAGREE?

This
table illustrates the underground railway systems in six major cities arranged chronologically from older to later. London is the oldest opened in 1863 meanwhile Los Angles is the latest opened in 2001.
Similarly
, London has the longest
network
of routes i.e. 394
km
and Kyoto has the shortest
network
of 11
km
. From the table, Tokyo serves the most
passengers
per
year
per 1
km
of route meanwhile Washington DC serve the least
passengers
per
year
per 1
km
of the route. It is observed that the greater the age of the railway
system
longer will be the
network
of routes and
passengers
per
year
.
Although
there is an exception to
this
notion as the Los Angeles
system
is newer than the Kyoto
system
but later has a shorter
network
of routes than others
hence
Los Angeles serves more
passengers
per
year
. The
second
exception is for systems in Paris and Tokyo, where
passengers
per
year
are much high
although
were built later than the London
system
.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
