Dear John,
This
is Ahmad who works in the IT department. I am writing to you
this
letter because I forgot about the
last
meeting between us. The
first
point I would like to mention is that I would like to apologise for not attending the
last
meeting, as recently, there have been some problems that happened to me. The
second
point is that recently, my mother has been in the hospital, and I am staying there taking care of her.
Moreover
, my car broke down, and I have not found anyone to mend it till now.
Finally
, I have a strain on my leg. It happened to me because I was playing with my friends, and till now, it has not been recovered. One
last
thing, I would like to inform you that I will do my best the
next
time not to miss any meetings.
Additionally
, I will work
this
weekend to finish the task before its deadline, and I consider
this
as an apology for what happened. I look forward to meeting you, and If there is any new update, please, do not hesitate to contact me. It will be my pleasure to have your call. Sincerely, Ahmad Sayed.

Use cohesive linking words accurately and appropriately

Linking words are very important in your essay.

To score effectively on your IELTS exam, you should make an effort to implement short concise sentences coupled with linking words.

Almost every sentence in your essay should have a linking word of some sort.

In fact, the only sentences that can omit linking words are your background sentence and thesis.

Linking word examples:

  • firstly
  • secondly
  • thirdly
  • in additional
  • moreover
  • also
  • for example
  • for instance
  • therefore
  • however
  • although
  • even though
  • despite
