You are moving to a new city for work and have just realized that an old friend lives in the city. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter: Ask them for advice in finding accommodation Tell them where you would like to live Tell them the type of place you are looking for Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear ___,

Dear Sam, Greetings of the day! I hope
this
letter finds you well and in good health. I am writing
this
letter to inform you that I moved to Vancouver
last
month since I started working in a consultancy company in the city. I am currently living in temporary accommodation with one of my colleagues and I would like some advice from you about finding a suitable apartment to live in. I would say that my budget is $1500 per month for a fully furnished kitchen including a washing machine. Since my office is close to downtown, approximately 15 minutes by car, I would like to move in somewhere near my office where there are many groceries and stores in the vicinity. I am looking for a single-bedroom or studio apartment furnished with a refrigerator and microwave in the kitchen which is not too expensive.
Moreover
, I would require a parking space for my car. Please let me know if there is a suitable accommodation which fits my description. Thank you in advance. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards, John

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
