Government should spend money on railways rather than roads. To what extant do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Nowadays, connectivity is the main factor in the development of a country. Some
people
argue that governments should spend less amount of money on
roads
and focus more on
railways
. In my opinion, Government should allocate more resources towards building and expanding
roads
than
railways
. In
this
essay, I will explain different reasons to support my statement.
To begin
with,
Roads
are more important than
railways
because
roads
are used by common men who belong to all classes of society. Because of
roads
, the daily life of
people
becomes easier as they use
roads
to
travel
to hospitals, schools, markets and airports. All these before-mentioned facilities cannot be reachable using
railways
because most of the time
railway
is used in the
city
to
city
travelling and within the
city
to build and
maintain
Wrong verb form
maintaining
show examples
a
railway
network is more costly than
roads
.
Secondly
, More
people
prefer to
travel
by using their own transport
such
as cars or motorcycles because it will save time.
On the other hand
, if they use
railways
then
they have to schedule their travelling plan in advance and
that is
difficult to manage in today's busy lifestyle.
In addition
, by using
roads
they can
travel
anywhere at any time but
that is
not the case with the
railway
.
In contrast
, some
people
claim that the
railway
is cheaper than private transport and if more
people
start using the
railway
then
traffic will be reduced significantly on the
roads
and that will help society in many ways
such
as the carbon footprint will be reduced, cities will become more peaceful because very less amount of cars and busses will be on the
roads
. In conclusion, spending more on
railways
rather than
roads
will not be beneficial for the government Because both
railways
and
roads
have different purposes.
Railways
are more useful for transporting goods and most
people
used
railways
for travelling between cities but
roads
are more useful within the
city
for various factors discussed above. In my humble opinion, the government have to spend more budget on building and maintaining
roads
because
roads
help
people
to
travel
faster.
