Your friend is thinking about learning to drive and would like some advice. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter • say why a driving licence is advantageous • recommend a driving school • give any extra guidance/tips

Hi John, I'm happy to hear that you are interested to learn to
drive
a car. Let me share a few details since you are going to learn to ride for the
first
time. It's important to have a driving license since it has many benefits. Most of the time, your brother drives a car and takes your parents to various places based on their needs. In case of emergency , when your brother is not available , you may need to take your parents to the respective places, as you know it would be difficult to take elderly people on public transport or cabs. I would recommend you to go to the Alpha driving school as I learnt driving from them five years ago and a few of my friends told they still provide excellent services to customers. Nowadays, you won't be able to find any manual
cars
on the road,
therefore
there is no necessity to learn manual
cars
.
However
, it wouldn't be a waste if you learn to
drive
both manual and automatic geared
cars
. Certain Japanese
cars
come with both auto and manual gears, it's called Kryptonics technology. If you know how to
drive
manually geared
cars
, you can use manual gears when you want to increase the speed quickly. A few tips from me would give you some directions. Always get support from driving instructors at the initial stage and don't go for a
drive
alone, especially on congested roads. It's better to use the tracks in the driving school to gain confidence before you ride on the roads. And improve concentration as you may need to focus at different angles in a few seconds through left, right and rear mirrors. Looking forward see you with a driving license, let me know if you need any guidance Warm wishes, Kyle

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
