You had to cancel a meeting with a friend. Write a letter to him/her, in your letter - Apologise for cancelling the meeting - Explain why you couldn't be there - Suggest an alternative day when you could meet
Dear Amar,
I hope
this
letter finds you in the best of health and spirits. I am writing to inform you that we have to suspend our meeting which is planned for next
week.
To begin
with, I would like to express my apologies as I will not be able to meet you as per our schedule. Although
I tried my best to catch you as per our committed date, it would not be possible by any means.
Unfortunately, my uncle is very serious. He has been admitted to the hospital. As per the doctor, he may require support in case of an emergency. I have to be nearby him to cope with any urgent requirements. Therefore
, I have to cancel our meeting.
As per hospital information, my uncle will be under observation for the next
two weeks. Hence
, I believe that we can postpone our meeting by end of this
month. I would recommend 28 December , Sunday for it.
I hope this
date would be preferable for our meeting.
I am looking forward to joining you.
Best Regards,

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
