some people think that global warming is a major issue. Others defend that is the deforestation. What do you think?
Global warming and
deforestation
are both
irrevocably tied to the main environmental concern that, nowadays, societies face. Although
some people believe that the former brings more baneful consequences, others argue that the most impactful to the community is the latter. I firmly believe that both
equally contribute to the deterioration of our environment and this
essay will explore both
views.
Focusing firstly
on global warming as a major threat to society, it has been shown that the rising temperature can be harmful to humans
and animals
. This
is because some species are not capable to adapt themselves to high temperatures, and, hence
, they could face extinction, for instance
. Furthermore
, higher degrees make icebergs melt and, consequently
, the ocean´s level soar, which can result in the degradation of the human mainland. If global warming was not an issue these days, animals
and humans
would not be at risk of disappearing.
With regard to deforestation
, in my opinion, it can bring pernicious effects in the same measure as the previous one. When trees and forests, which are responsible to produce oxygen by using carbon dioxide, disappear, pollution takes place. A prime example of this
is when someone does exercise outside, due to
this
drop in oxygen levels and the rise of pollutants, they are more likely to get respiratory diseases, which can ultimately be life-threatening. Similarly
, the same applies to animals
. If deforestation
was not increasing, humans
and animals
were not facing, these days, the risk of extinction and Earth´s destruction.
In summary, whereas
some people might weigh global warming and deforestation
differently, I am a vehement supporter that both
represent an equal exponential risk to animals
and humans
disappearing in the future.Submitted by ana.lpsmachado on
