Health care should not be provided for free regardless of a person's income. The health of a person is in their own hands and they should, therefore, be held accountable for that. Do you agree with this opinion?

The provision of
health
care
services should not be free regardless of an individual’s financial stability. I completely disagree with
this
notion because the state receives taxpayers' money for these purposes and
also
due to
financial difficulties,
although
there’s no doubt that individuals are responsible for their own well-being.
This
essay discusses reasons to support my stand.
To begin
with, many people living in developing countries have financial difficulties which serve as drawbacks to receiving quality
health
care
.
For instance
, a survey conducted by a research group in Ghana states that almost half of the total number of children who died in 2022 specifically in rural areas was a result of low economic income and inability to access quality
health
care
. In
this
case, only the government can offer a helping hand.
Secondly
, the citizens in many countries vote for leaders to be elected and pay their taxes duly and
hence
expect the government to perform some responsibilities with respect to their
health
care
and in
this
case, providing
health
care
for free regardless of the financial income of these individuals.
While
the majority of the citizens are working to improve their daily living economically and educationally, the authorities must ensure
health
care
delivery is free and easily accessible for the betterment of the entire nation. In conclusion,
although
individuals are responsible for their own
health
, in my opinion , the provision of medical
care
by the government is important not only to communities that are poor but for the betterment of everyone,
thus
improving the economy of the country.
