NOWADAYS, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE DECIDE TO HAVE CHILDREN LATER IN THEIR LIFE. DO THE ADVANTAGES OF THİS TREND OUTWEIGH THE DISADVANTAGES?
A higher number of people today choose to have
children
much later in their life
, and the world remains divided when expressing good or bad about the trend
. I, however
, agree that the advantages of the statement made earlier outweigh the disadvantages. The main plus side of this
trend
is that having children
later would allow parents
to prepare themselves better to provide the necessary resources to improve the juvenile's quality of living, which is more important than the main disadvantage here, which is - parents
may get too old to enjoy life
with their kids.
In a world that has become a lot more expensive to live in, having an ample amount of resources at hand to be able to support the newborn's future is key. In order to achieve that, many parents
wish to take up a higher workload at their jobs, and power through occupational toil to save up enough money. Sadly, there is only so much money that can accrue within a particular time frame and if a child
is born while
the struggle to save up enough is on, then
the burden would become manifold, negatively impacting both the parents
and the child
. Considering this
argument, giving birth later in life
, when the parents
would have laid aside sufficient funds, seems to be the ideal solution. Perhaps this
view is now so widely accepted and even successful which is why many studies have reported that children
of older mothers
are able to stay within the education system much longer and afford to go to expensive universities more easily than their peers born to younger mothers
.
Opponents of the trend
may now argue that parenthood and memories contribute largely to enhancing a child
's quality of life
too. Conceiving late in life
would inevitably make the mother much older than some others with children
of the same age. Following the logic that energy seeps out of our body with age, those against this
trend
contend that having older parents
would prevent the child
from being able to enjoy certain adventurous activities in life
and create fun and quaint memories for them to happily reminisce on in their future. While
this
may sound convincing to some extent, there are no real statistics proving that older mothers
and fathers cannot engage in thrilling physical activities with their children
. In fact, even if a woman was to give birth at the latest possible age while
it is biologically feasible, it would not make her significantly older than other mothers
and thus
would not render her much more fatigued as a parent than her younger counterparts either.
To sum up
, while
there are two sides to every coin, this
essay argues that the advantages of having a child
later in life
far outweigh the main disadvantage of the same. While
this
may make the parents
slightly older and as opponents put it, slightly more incapable of enjoying life
with their child
physically, this
is not a proven fact. The main advantage of having ample resources to make the child
's future more smooth sailing ,however
, has been supported through research before , which makes it much stronger than its supposed downside.Submitted by sudipa.mishra on
