The first line graph shows the percentage of

between 1920 and 2019,

the second figure illustrates the number of

chores in the same reporting period.
Overall
, there was a significant growth of
families
owning three electrical machines at
home

although
the
ownership
of a washing
machine
has declined gradually throughout the period.
Moreover
, the time spent on
household
chores has dropped over the 99-year duration. Looking at the details, the washing
machine
was the most popular
household
appliance in 1920, with 40% of
families
reported to have owned one.

figure continued to surge, until 1960, there was a 30% increase in
families
reported having a washing
machine
at
home
. The
ownership
of a washing
machine
fluctuated between 60% to 80% from 1960 to 2019. Interestingly, there was no
household
reported to have a
fridge
in 1920,
however
, it
then
experienced a dramatic jump to 90% of the
families
reported having owned one in 1960. Since

, all households reported having a
fridge
at
home
. The
ownership
of a vacuum cleaner followed a similar trend where starting with 30% of households owning the

. By 1980, it was tripled what it was in 1920. The
ownership
of a vacuum cleaner ended at the same level as the

at 100% in 2019.

spent on

chores fell gradually, from 50

a week in 1920 to 20
