The table illustrates the percentages of consumer expenditure for different categories in five countries in 2002, namely Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey. Looking from an
overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that all the five nations spent most of the cash on Food/Drinks/Tobacco,
while
Leisure/Education experienced the opposite trend in the given year. A deep analysis of the table provided reveals that out of the five countries, the largest proportion of Food/Drinks/Tobacco went into Turkey, at 32.14%.
Following
this
, Ireland was the second country that spent the highest expenditure on
this
category. The percentage of spending on Leisure/Education was
also
highest in Turkey, at 4.35%,
while
Italy made up the 1st rank in terms of consumer spending on Clothing/Footwear, at 9%. Looking at the table in more detail, it can be seen that Sweden witnessed the lowest proportion of expenditure on both Food/Drinks/Tobacco and Clothing/Footwear items, at 15.77% and 5.40% respectively. It is
also
notable that in the year 2002, the lowest figure for Leisure/Education went for Spain, at only 1.98%.
