The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.
The pie charts compare the proportions of three unhealthy nutrients consumed by the average resident in the USA in each meal and in
snacks
in a day.
Overall
, sodium
and saturated fat reveal similar patterns, whereas
added sugar shows a different one.
People
in the US consume the largest proportion of sodium
and saturated fat in dinnertime, at 43 and 37% respectively, followed by lunch, both at just under 30%. Regarding sodium
, the percentages of breakfast and snacks
in which people
intake it were both the same, representing 14%. In terms of saturated fat, the proportion of people
who intake the kind of fat in snacks
is 21% and in breakfast is 16%.
In comparison, added sugar is consumed the most in snacks
, which is 42%. Then
the figure is subsequently
followed by dinner and lunch, at 23% and 19% respectively though these are much smaller than the other two nutrients. By contrast
, only 16% of people
in the US intake added sugar in breakfast, which shows almost the same share as sodium
and saturated fat, though.Submitted by T Shiro on
